Around 200 farmers, including girls, who arrived in bullock carts at the land in Khandala village, ploughed a section of it employing tractors — a symbolic transfer of reclaiming possession.
The protesting farmers, who carried the nationwide flags in addition to photos of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr BR Ambedkar, raised slogans in opposition to Nirav Modi who faces allegations of defrauding condition-run Punjab National Financial institution to the tune of about Rs 13,000 crore.
The land is between the qualities connected by the Enforcement Directorate as a section of its probe in opposition to Modi who has fled the state, explained a farmer activist, in accordance to the PTI report.
Shouting slogans in opposition to the billionaire designer, who is being probed by a number of Indian companies, the protesters carried the banner of ‘Kaali Aai Mukti Sangram’, a community farmers’ organisation.
“The land was acquired by Nirav Modi’s enterprise in 2013. Farmers were compensated involving Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 for each acre although the prevailing market fee was Rs 2 lakh for each acre,” explained a farmer.
The protesters also voiced their disillusionment in opposition to the banking procedure, alleging that while farmers experienced to battle challenging to get financial loans, persons like Nirav Modi bought it quite simply.”When we seek financial loans, banking institutions are not inclined to give over and above Rs 10,000 but Nirav Modi bought crores of rupees. Why is that,” questioned a different protester.
