Terror alert: US embassy warns Americans of ISIS attacks in India

On Tuesday, The American Embassy in India warned its citizens about the ISIS “desire to attack targets in India.”

The American Embassy warns of an increased threat to places in India frequented by Westerners, such as markets, religious sites, and festival venues. Recent Indian media reports indicate ISIL’s desire to attack targets in India.

The statement read, “All American citizens are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness as detailed in the State Department’s Worldwide Caution of September 9, 2016.”

The statement had said, “Authorities believe there is a continued likelihood of attacks against U.S., Western, especially in the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, and Asia.” It informed people about major terrorist threats in Belgium, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, Somalia, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Germany, and Bangladesh among others.

Many young people from Kerala, Maharashtra and other states have also fled the country to join the group.

“A Swedish national may be recruiting Indians for ISIS, Last month,” intelligence agencies had said that.
