Jennifer Lopez on her #MeToo moment: ‘Nah, we’re not having it’


LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Jennifer Lopez had her personal #MeToo minute years back, but it did not switch out as planned for her would-be abuser.

The singer, actress and producer instructed Harper’s Bazaar journal in an job interview published on Thursday that early in her occupation she was questioned to display off her breasts. She refused.

Lopez reported she had not experienced the form of sexual assault recounted by several other females in Hollywood.

“But have I been instructed by a director to take off my shirt and display my boobs? Of course, I have. But did I do it? No, I did not,” Lopez, now 48, instructed the journal.

“When I did converse up, I was terrified. I try to remember my heart beating out of my chest, imagining, ‘What did I do? This man is employing me!’ It was 1 of my very first videos. But in my mind I realized the behaviour wasn’t ideal,” she added.

Lopez did not detect the man or the film.

She credited her upbringing in New York City’s tricky Bronx borough in the 1970s for her refusal.

“I consider eventually the Bronx in me was like, ‘Nah, we’re not getting it,’” Lopez reported.

Sexual misconduct accusations versus dozens of highly effective guys in Hollywood sparked the wider #MeToo social media movement, with hundreds of females coming ahead in the past 6 months to share stories of assault and harassment.

Lopez, who started her occupation as a dancer and singer, is also a movie and tv actress and producer. She followed a stint as a decide on “American Idol” with a guide position in the tv police drama “Shades of Blue” and is the producer of shows which include “World of Dance” and the forthcoming intimate comedy film “Second Act.”

Harper’s Bazaar interviewed Lopez for it April edition, out on newsstands on March 27.
