Rihanna urges fans to delete Snapchat after ad mocking assault by Brown

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Pop star Rihanna urged lovers on Thursday to delete Snapchat right after the social media app ran an advert making enjoyment of her 2009 beating at the arms of then boyfriend Chris Brown.

Shares of Snap Inc , the organization that would make the app, had been down 4.7 % in investing on Thursday.

“SNAPCHAT I know you know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just striving to figure out what the point was with this mess!,” the singer wrote on Instagram on Thursday.

“You invested funds to animate one thing that would intentionally carry disgrace to DV victims and built a joke of it!!!,” she included, referring to domestic violence. “Shame on you. Throw the complete app-oligy away.”

The “Wild Thoughts” singer, 30, was speaking out right after Snapchat previously this 7 days apologised and took down an advert on its system for a cellular online video video game identified as “Would You Rather!”

The advert showed pics of Rihanna and Brown with the captions “Slap Rihanna” and “Punch Chris Brown.” Both the advert and the video game had been unaffiliated with Snapchat.

R&B singer Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna in 2009 in an incident that built headlines all around the earth when a photo of her bruised experience was unveiled.

Snapchat on Thursday reported the advert was “disgusting and by no means really should have appeared on our provider.”

“We are so sorry we built the terrible oversight of allowing it by our critique process. We are investigating how that transpired so that we can make sure it by no means happens yet again,” the organization reported in a statement.

Rihanna’s feedback had been the latest lousy push for Snapchat. Its shares misplaced about $1.5 billion in current market benefit in February right after social media superstar Kylie Jenner, who has as many as 105 million Instagram followers, tweeted that she did not like the Snapchat site’s redesign.

Dozens of lovers on Thursday tweeted that they had been next Rihanna’s simply call to delete the Snapchat app.

“Rihanna let them KNOW. RIP SNAPCHAT,” tweeted a user with the Twitter take care of @loveonthebrain.

“y’all imagined kylie killed snapchat, but rihanna dragged it to the grave! RIP september 2011-march 2018,” tweeted a user identified as cozy spice.
